Shay Butts

I am a passionate advocate for mental health and addiction recovery, with over 25 years of experience as a therapeutic consultant for families and treatment programs. My journey in this field has been deeply fulfilling, allowing me to work closely with individuals and their families as they navigate the complexities of mental health challenges and addiction.

Throughout my career, I have co-founded two young adult transitional living programs, where I have taken an innovative approach to program development and design. I believe in creating environments that not only support recovery but also foster personal growth and independence. My focus has always been on tailoring programs to meet the unique needs of each individual, ensuring that they receive the support and resources necessary for a successful transition.

  • I am committed to collaborating with families and treatment teams to enhance the overall effectiveness of care. My extensive experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of the challenges that young adults face, and I take pride in empowering them to reclaim their lives and build a brighter future.

In addition to my work as a therapeutic consultant, I am also a certified life coach, which allows me to help individuals identify their goals and develop actionable plans to achieve them. My coaching approach is rooted in compassion and empowerment, and I enjoy fostering a supportive environment where my clients can explore their aspirations and overcome obstacles.

As a mom to three adult children, I find immense joy in watching them grow and navigate their own lives. They inspire me daily, and I’m grateful for the meaningful connections we share. I also have the pleasure of being “LuLu”  to two beautiful granddaughters. Spending time with them is one of my greatest joys!

My partner and I share a love for our 120 year old bungalow that provides us with endless projects. We also have two fur babies and a small backyard flock of chickens that we enjoy. We love to treat our families, friends and neighbors with plenty of fresh eggs.

  • I am a firm believer in the value of human connections. I have had the privilege of building meaningful relationships with people from all walks of life, and I cherish the wisdom and inspiration they bring into my world. I am grateful for the love and support I have received, and I strive to pay it forward by being a source of positivity and encouragement for others. I would describe myself as a seeker of knowledge and experiences, embracing life with curiosity and enthusiasm. My life is a beautiful, ever evolving journey, and I am grateful for every moment. As a Wellness coach, I am passionate about helping individuals achieve optimal health and well-being. With my background in fitness and body science, I have the ability provide guidance and support to my clients on their Wellness journey. I believe that true wellness encompasses not only mental and emotional well-being but physical wellness. With these three areas being addressed the creation of a whole-body approach and plan can be achieved. I have faced my own struggles with depression and anxiety. I have been consistent with doing the work it takes to create a sustainable lifestyle change that promotes balance, vitality and overall happiness. I strive to bring these tools to my coaching clients.

Throughout my journey, I have had the privilege of encountering various challenges and opportunities that have shaped my perspective on life. These experiences have taught me the importance of resilience adaptability and open mindedness. I believe in the power of personal growth and self-discovery. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to continuous learning and self-improvement, seeking wisdom from books, mentors, my higher power, and life lessons. This commitment has allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of myself and others, fostering empathy and compassion.

From a young age, I was inquisitive and developed a passion for working with my hands while working alongside my beloved grandfather who was a homebuilder and farmer. I have always been a natural athlete and played football for Texas A&M University. I graduated with degrees in Science, Kinesiology and Marketing. I have competed as an amateur bodybuilder and have been a personal trainer and lifestyle coach for decades. I had a successful career in the medical field, both in pharmaceutical & medical equipment sales/distribution, before retiring in 2019. I am the proud father of four adult children, and now “Scooter” to my 3 grandchildren. In my free time, you can find me spending time with my family, cooking, gardening, tending to my chickens & two dogs, and doing renovation projects.

Our Team

Alexandra Blalock LPC

Therapist & Life Strategist

  • Hi, I'm Alexandra, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a deep passion for helping people achieve both emotional and physical wellness. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from The University of Houston-Clear Lake, focusing on early childhood education, and later completed my Master of Science in Counseling at the same university.

Before becoming a counselor, I spent several years in education as an elementary teacher and school counselor. I specialize in working with adolescents, teenagers, and young adults, guiding them through challenges such as anxiety, depression, body image issues, bullying, career exploration, and various life adjustments.

When I'm not working, I cherish time with my husband, daughters, and our rescue pup, Ranger. I enjoy going on walks, reading, and singing with my church’s praise and worship team. My goal is to support others on their journey to wellness and help them find the balance and fulfillment they seek.

Casey deGroot LPC

Therapist & Life Strategist

  • Hi, I’m Casey deGroot, a licensed therapist with 20 years of experience helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges with clarity, confidence, and compassion. I hold a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Houston and have spent my career supporting clients in school settings, private practice, therapeutic consulting, and parent coaching.

I work with clients across the lifespan — children, teens, young adults, adults, and parents — offering a safe, supportive space to explore issues like anxiety, identity, stress, relationships, family dynamics, life transitions, and more. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs. I use evidence-based tools such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and trauma-informed care, always drawing from a developmental lens rooted in my educational and clinical background.

I also work closely with parents, offering coaching that helps strengthen communication, emotional connection, and confidence in navigating their child’s growth and challenges.

When I’m not working, I value time with my husband of 24 years and our two young adult children. I enjoy staying active, being outdoors, and finding peace and joy at the beach — my favorite place to recharge and reflect.

With two decades of experience, I’ve seen how powerful therapy can be when people feel truly heard and supported. If you’re ready to take that first step — for yourself, your spouse or your child — I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
